Compatibility

Yes for now. But the good news is we already have a beta version for Android which is now in beta testing, you can contact us and request to join the ongoing beta testing.
Basically, we support iOS system version newer than iOS 10.3.3, so if you’re running a newer version, it will be fine. The best way to identify this is to simply enter “JamKoo” in your App Store search bar, go to the product page and check if there is the “Install” button or it will show you an alert message.

In App Purchase

The app itself is free of charge to use. You only need to pay for the pro-features and premium sound libraries, which will help buy us a cup of coffee for the breakfast.
No, you only pay once with the same apple id, so just make sure you login your both devices with the same apple id.
Once reinstalled, you can simply tap the “restore purchase” button to get all your purchased items back. It takes some time to re-download and install before available for use.
By default, you need to manually add an instrument or sound to your patch list, tap “+” on the patch list to add your instrument.

MIDI Devices and Musical Instruments

Technically, devices that support standard MIDI will do, portable keyboards, wind midi controller, electronic piano, electronic drum set, synthesizer, midi keyboard and other midi controllers.
Case 1, if your device has a midi out port, you can purchase a bluetooth midi adapter from our WeChat official account(only applicable with in mainland China for now). It’s a “plug and play” solution. Case 2, if your device doesn’t have a midi out port. Check if it has a USB port, you can connect your device with JamKoo with apple camera kit or similar USB adapters.
Apple camera kit or similar USB adapters with be a big help.
You can connect your instrument with a Type C adapter for iPad.
For Roland AE10, your need USB adapters. For aerophone go/mini you can simply connect with bluetooth midi, just turn the device’s bluetooth midi on before connect.
Wireless solution, get our bluetooth midi adapter, plug and play. Wired solution, use a usb adapter like apple camera kit and a usb D cable.
Make sure your device is listed and connected in “Bluetooth MIDI Devices”, keep it selected in “Core MIDI Devices”. Select “All” for “MIDI Input Channels”. Once it works, the MIDI icon will start flushing if you play some notes. For more details, go to “Academy” and check out our video tutorials.

Playing and Performance

You may import a backing track from“File Browser”or Apple Music library. If your backing track is at a remote location (e.g. cloud drive), our advice is to download the file and import from “File Browser” thereafter.
After upgrading to the pro-version, you may load SF2 files by tapping“Import from iCloud”at Instrument Library, where all instruments are managed. There is no maximum number of third-party instruments to accommodate.
Music score can be loaded by the pro-version of JamKoo on iPad. You may import from File, album, or simply take a picture!
You may flip a page by hand. Alternatively, you may use a supported model of bluetooth pedal.
You could switch keys in a flash by loading the same instrument twice and set different keys to each of them. For example, you may set up the first violin in C and a second violin in F. Switching between the two violins is the same as switching between C and F.
There are 2 transparent Up&Down buttons on AKAI EWI5000, which are also Interval and Hold buttons respectively. They can be set up to switch patches (instruments) in JamKoo:   1. Hold the Setup key, use the Up&Down buttons to navigate until the LED screen says “Ho”(Hold). Release the Setup key, and use the Up&Down buttons to navigate until the LED screen says “Up”. Press Setup key again. This sets up the Hold (Up) key.   2. Hold the Setup key, use the Up&Down buttons to navigate until the LED screen says “In”(Interval). Release the Setup key, and use the Up&Down buttons to navigate until the LED screen says “Dn”. Press Setup key again. This sets up the Interval (Down) key.
Please go to Settings in JamKoo and enable “Fixed Note On Velocity”.
Please adjust the sensitivity of your EWI, or go to Settings in JamKoo and switch Sensivity Curve to “Soft”.
We advice to reset all settings for your EWI first (this involves openning up the lid located on the upper part of EWI for the 8 knobs). After that, please turn on the EWI, hold Setup button, use the 2 transparent Up&Down keys to navigate until the LED screen says “Cl”. Release the Setup key, navigate again until the LED screen says “Bs”. Tweak the Chorus knob to 60 and the LFO knob to 90. Finaly, hold the Setup key and the transparent Down key.
You could go to “Me” page - “My recordings” and find your recorded work. Selecting your intended recording will open up a number of options, one of which loads this track as the backing track.
